LG KF600

The LG KF600 or rather LG Venus is essentially a ground-breaking cell phone which is designed for fashion savvy mobile geeks. Its distinctive dual screen functionality sweeps through the mobile arena around the world. The specs of LG KF600 in a gist are:

  • 25 MB internal memory
  • Class 10 GPRS, USB v2.0 and Bluetooth v2.0, EDGE
  • 3.1 MP Camera
  • Dual screen with 256k touch sensitive lower display

Whilst evaluating this product, one is bound to mention its unique lower InteractPad 1.5 inch screen which also serves as the navigation bar. The haptic enabled subordinate screen provides a platform for keys which change on diverse perspective applications. LG KF600 is really intriguing with a sliding functionality and a separate slide out keypad apart from the touchpad.

The lucid viewing experience of the LG KF600 is enhanced with the 2inch TFT display with resolution of 240 X 320 pixels. Graffiti artists Keith Haring put up an excellent user interface with hi-configured graphic themes which are sure to magnetize the fashion geeks. Its dimensions also give a strong and fine hold of the phone. Consequently LG KF600 with its high price band will be a good pick for consumers looking for a gorgeous handset.

LG Viewty Review

LG Viewty KU990 is simply a beauty. This isn’t me only to adage it around, but it’s the specs and the handset that calls for it. It is really impressive and is truly a power-packed phone. Here are the technical specs at a glance:LG VIEWTY

  • Camera: Astounding 5MP integrated camera with Xenon Flash
  • Screen: 3 inch LCD touch screen, encompassing 256k colours
  • Connectivity: USB v2.0, Bluetooth v1.2 and 3G facilitating HSDPA

Although the 5MP auto focus camera with image stabilizer makes the phone quite a challenging one, yet the lack of 16.7 million colour display in a phone of this class is indubitably a drawback. After the failure of LG KG920 to grab the market due to its high pricing and slow camera interface, it is an attempt by LG mobiles to get a large share of the market by launching a 5MP phone with superior features and better pricing. Now let’s get back to the track…

The 5MP autofocus camera can become the key aspect for the recognition of the Viewty. It looks just reminiscent of a digicam from a diagonally horizontal direction. The high-flying black colour with contiguous silver pallets makes Viewty a beauty. The VGA camera set aside in the front for video calling is unquestionably going to keep it one step ahead of other 5MPs. Moreover a scroll wheel around the camera gives it a true digital camera styling.

Other features about it which may be appealing are that it comes with an innovative stylus dongle which is attached with the eyelet hand strap which is quite an innovative approach. Although it’s an amendment of the ex LG Prada, its screen has a more comfortable sensitivity than the Prada and the set itself is very handy to carry and hold. Finally its face tracking software, manual focus and in-built software to upload videos on the internet are really very tempting. Frankly, I am going to get my hands on it as soon as possible.

Review: Sony Ericsson W960i

Posted by Rich

Sony have come a long way in the form of smart phones. The W960 has made a wide range of changes from its predecessor the W950i. First of all, its one of the first phones to be running on the latest Symbian operating system, namely UIQ 3.0 ( OS v9.1)

The Walkman phone boasts its 8GB internal memory and has twice as much operating memory, allowing the phone to be more smooth an reliable that of the older members of the Sony family.

The phone also has a large 240 x 320 pixel Touchscreen display. (262K Color) witch allows more control over the media player and enhanced features available in the W960i. The camera is a 3.2MP with a 3X Digital zoom and has a standard LED Flash and can record videos.

IT has built in WiFi to enable high speed Internet access and hold 3G connectivity for video calling and high speed downloading.

Personally, I love this phone! With an advanced operating system, it enables me to use allot of the software I thought would only work on a Nokia N-Series phone.

Performance: 4/5

Features: 5/5

Usability: 4/5

Turn your phone into a TV remote!

Posted by Rich

I’ve had a few emails asking about how I used my N95 as a TV remote. Well I’ll show you, its pretty straight forward.

The program itself is a piece of software developed for the Symbian OS S60, that the operating system for allot of the N Series Nokia phones (N95, N81 etc). The second thing you need to have on your phone is an IR Port (Infrared) built into the phone, this will act as your TV Remote ‘zapper’

The software that I used was a small program called irRemote, it costs about ~$19.50 and can be downloaded from various mobile phone software vendors.

There is a Free/Trial version available, what can also be downloaded from irRemote site.

Download the software here!

Get that software installed onto your phone, you can usually do that via USB cable or bluetooth.

(If you don’t know how to upload & install, just drop a comment and i’ll write an article on how to)

You are nearly there in turning your mobile phone into a TV remote, once the software is installed, run the program and you will be given a list of different applications that you can take advantage of!

Things like Air Conditioners, Amps, CD / DVD players, HiFi, Home Theater, Satellite receivers, Radio Tuners, TVs, VCRs and many more! The software connects to their main database that has settings for thousands of different makes of applications!

Find your TV make / Model from the list of different models and download it, once its downloaded to your phone, you can then use it! Simply select your TV model and point the IR Port towards the TV and use the keys shown on the screen (see screenshot)

Compatible phones

  • Nokia 5500irRemote
  • Nokia 5700
  • Nokia 6290
