The N95 won the race for the 5MP mark in mobile phones. The quality produced can now start matching dedicated photo cameras. Being the first Nokia to have a 5MP Camera, they seem to have gone to town with it and build it using Carl Zeiss optics. Carl Zeiss, the optical manufacture that design the optics in the N95 allow Nokia to boast a superior quality in photography built into the phone.

Smart phone

Obviously, there Is going to be down sides to this phone, as there is with any phone.. One problem with this phone is the Operating system. Known to be buggy and slow, Symbian OS is the system of choice for the Nokia N series.

Now its not all that bad when you get to know this phone, its extremely expandable. Allowing you to install all kinds of software. This can be extremely useful for someone who is on the move constantly and in need of universal applications that allow you to view and use every day files.

The range of applications available for this phone is immense. I once used this software that took advantage of its Infrared port, allowing the phone to basically be a universal Remote control (a lot of fun in the office ;) )

GPS

The phone has a built in GPS receiver, a some what new technology in mobile phones. The Nokia N95 has SatNav software included on the phone, allowing you to take advantage of the N95’s GPS.

The preloaded software has a basic coverage of maps and will allow you to generate directions. The key features are only available through a subscription.

For the price of around £50 for 3 years, you will get up-to-date maps and software update, full GPS tracking and voice-over directions. New users of the software will get a generous 3-day free trial.

WiFi

The phone has a built in WiFi connector, that allows you to connect to public and private WiFi networks. The advantage of this is that you can browse and download off the Internet, without having to worry about service charges off your network. Also, its able to access the Internet at higher speeds, up to 10x the speed of your 3G connection.

Audio

The quality of audio is amazing on the N95, with two speakers either side of the screen, its able to produce a superb quality of sound that I’ve never heard from a mobile phone before. So then, obviously its going to need some kind of media control. And thats where the dual slide feature comes in.

The Nokia N95 has a dual slide feature that allows you to slide the screen both ways, giving you more surface area for buttons and features. Slide the screen up and you have your standard Keypad. But slide the screen downwards and you get your media control keys. With this feature in mind, it allows you to control music and videos. Allowing you to pause, stop and skip/fast forward tracks. ( I will post a video explaining this )

One part in particular I like about this phone is that it allows the standard 3.5mm jack port to be plugged into the phone. This allows to phone to be used with a wide range of products such as earphones and TV-Output.

Personal Views

There is so much more to this phone than meets the eyes. If I was to list every feature of the phone, it tends to spoil the whole enjoyment of using the phone. Finding new features and functions on the phone is the best part of it.

I would honestly recommend this phone to experienced mobile users, as it has some complicated functions on the phone. Also, you have to be patient with this phone as it glitchy and slow.

Overall, I give the phone a generous 7 out of 10.
