Businesses Should Take Mobile Phone Recycling More Seriously

As part of the American Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) National Cell Phone Recycling Week, Full Circle, a wireless evironmental services company, is encouraging US businesses to adopt a new attitude and approach to recycling mobile and wireless products.

Full Circle suggests that taking the following easy steps can make a real difference:-

  • Avoid throwing items into the national waste system;
  • Take a little time to learn how to recycle mobile technology responsibly from the huge amount of information readily available and get involved in recycling programmes that make sound business and environmental sense;
  • Take advantage of mobile phone recycling cash-back schemes that will bring money that would otherwise be lost back into the business;
  • Assist the recycling process by removing SIM cards and erasing the memory from redundant handsets before returning them;
  • Remember that what may seem to be insignificant actions by individual consumers and businesses can make a huge difference to the amout of e-waste going to landfill sites.

The EPA say that if just 1% of Americans chose to recycle their old mobiles it could make a huge environmental difference and would also be financially rewarding.  These rewards could be substantial for some businesses.  (Some recyclers offer over $300 for an iPhone 3GS).
