Samsung is launching a PR campaign called “March to a Million” which will see them collect at least a million mobile phones this year for recycling purposes. They will be targeting more than 7 million students in approximately 9,500 schools in South Korea first.

The program will educate teens about the importance and ease of mobile phone recycling, with schools having the opportunity to enter a sweepstakes to win either a VIP concert from the alternative rock band “Hey Monday,” or one of fifty $1,000 “Green Grants” to put towards making their school more environmentally friendly.

The campaign is part of Samsung’s Eco-Management 2013 Plan, which includes the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from manufacturing, development of eco-friendly products, financial investment in eco-management initiatives and enhanced green partnerships with suppliers and partners.

Samsung Mobile is also urging Americans to recycle their mobile phones during this year’s ‘Plug-In To eCycling National Cell Phone Recycling Week’, which starts on April 5th.
