Encouragement to Buy Recycled Phones

Although we’re being encouraged a lot to recycle our old mobile phones, have we considered the benefits of buying a recycled phone?

It’s another way of stopping old mobile phones from being sent to landfill where the components break down and harm the environment.

Samsung have produced at least two recycled mobile phones which are on the market now.  The first one is made from reclaimed materials like old plastic water bottles.  It’s called the ‘Blue Earth’ phone.  The packaging for the phone has been printed with soy ink so is also kind to the environment.  The ‘Blue Earth’ phone can be charged using a set of solar panels on the reverse.  Samsung have also produced a phone called the ‘Reclaim’ which is made mostly from bio-plastic materials like corn and 80% of it is made of recycled materials.  It is free of PVC, and mostly free of Brominated Flame Retardants which are really harmful to the environment.

So whether you choose to recycle your old mobile phone, or buy a phone made of recycled materials, all of this starts to take a step towards avoiding contaminating the beautiful planet we live in.
