Samsung Encourage Mobile Phone Recycling

Samsung Electronics in Canada is encouraging mobile phone recycling by offering to provide commercial bins to businesses who would like to recycle old electronic equipment.  The only proviso is that any item of old equipment is replaced with a product from their range.

Samsung believe that by introducing this initiative they are taking their eco-consciousness to a new level and consider their new business-to-business recycling programme makes buying their products the greener option.  Businesses who sign up will have the recycling bins installed for free.  After purchasing new equipment, the business can then arrange to have the old equipment taken away at their convenience and it will be recycled free-of-charge.

Samsung say that the rationale behind “Recycling Direct for Business” is to remove the hassle and cost of recycling for business owners and their management, thus providing a strong incentive to recycle.  This is also in line with the increasing trend for businesses to adopt more sustainable ways of working.

Products that can be recycled are not limited to mobile phones and Samsung are also happy to accept televisions, DVDs, VCRs, audio and home cinema equipment, fixed line phones, cameras, camcorders, printers, video displays and other computer equipment.
