Sony Ericsson Aspen Uses Recycled Materials

There is strong pressure from environmental groups and governments for manufacturers and consumers to adopt green behaviour.   This is particularly evident in the mobile phone industry because it has a huge environmental impact and its sustainable credentials are continually under intense scrutiny.

Technological advances in the manufacture of increasingly powerful smartphones means that substantially more users are either trading in or selling their old phones.   Once a phone depreciates below a certain value they tend to be simply thrown away.

Consumers are often faced with some unattractive options for disposal.   However, the Sony Ericsson Aspen has been designed to keep environmental considerations in front of the user.  This is clearly essential bearing in mind the hundreds of tons of plastic waste generated from handset disposal, together with the hazardous substances contained in screens and batteries.

The Sony Ericsson Aspen smartphone is part of the Greenheart series, as are its companions the Hazel and the Elm.  It features a 2.4 inch TFT resistive touch screen display and retains Windows Mobile 6.5.3.   Users with a green conscience can sleep more easily knowing that they can have a state of the art smartphone over half of which comprises recycled plastic and uses only water based paint.
