Nokia are offering a brand new Nokia N8 to festival-goers in South Africa who recycle their old mobile phones.

There will be collection points at the two festivals – ‘Rocking the Daisies’ and ‘Rocking the Gardens’ where people can donate their old phones or accessories whatever the make or model is.  Everyone who recycles their mobile in this way we will be given a leaf made of recycled billboard which Nokia will add to the ‘We Recycle’ tree for entry into the prize draw to win a Nokia N8.  The organisers hope that by the end of the weekend after the festivals, the tree will be completely covered with leaves and all the donated phones will then be safely recycled.

There are currently over four billion mobile phone users worldwide.  If we all recycled just one of our old phones, over 240,000 tonnes of raw materials could be saved.

The Nokia N8 is Nokia’s latest upcoming touch screen smartphone which combines HD video, a 12 mega-pixel camera and dolby surround sound.  It allows integrated social networking and access to Ovi Store Apps.  It is due for release in the UK around the end of October.

It is expected that many people will sell their old mobiles to raise funds for the release of the N8.
