O2 are offering customers from any network the chance to recycle their mobile phones and receive up to £260 for their old one.  o2 work with the recycling specialist Redeem to run what they describe as an ‘ethical mobile phone recycling scheme’.

O2 Recycle is a non-profit recycling scheme where any money made is donated to the ‘Think Big’ initiative.  The aim of the initiative is to help improve the lives of young people in the UK.  Money is invested into community projects to help young people receive training and support to launch programmes that will help benefit the areas they live in.

Old phones can be recycled online or in o2 stores and payment will be made within 5 days of receipt of your phone.

o2 aim for ethical recycling.  Some e-waste such as old mobile phones are shipped overseas to developing countries.  Any phones that are donated to o2 are refurbished and passed onto markets in other countries.  Phones that cannot be refurbished are recycled in the UK and are not sent to landfill.
