UK based Mazuma Mobile has become the first mobile phone recycling company to pay out over £100 million to its customers.

The company is part of the Ventura Telecom Group and was launched five years ago in 2006.  Since then, over 2.9 million phones have been recycled by Mazuma.

Around 150,000 mobiles are re-homed per month, making Mazuma one of Europe’s leading mobile phone REUSE specialists.  Old phones are processed and then reused in developing countries such as China, Africa, Pakistan and India. Redundant phones therefore help to improve and develop communications in these markets.

Tablet device recycling is now offered by Mazuma and is on the increase with the launch of the new iPad 2 and Android tablets like the BlackBerry PlayBook.   You can currently get up to £180 for an iPad 64GB WiFi 3G.

The Apple iPhone makes up 9% of all the 1,645 different types of mobile phone devices that are recycled.

Mazuma’s managing director Charlo Carabott said: “Our success has been achieved with our emphasis on providing the best phone values, a premium customer service and … being the only mobile phone recycler in the UK to provide same-day payments,”
